Nutty has become visiting faculty member at The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Prof. of Ophthalmology at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, National Board of Examination, New Delhi. He also gave lecture at Stanley Medical College on “Innovations in Vitreo Retinal Surgery”.
He was unanimously elected as editor of Indian Journal of Ophthalmology by members of All India Ophthalmological Society (April 2011-2014).
Late Dr. Sandeep Wagh Memorial Award is given to Ophthalmologists for their outstanding contributions in field of Ophthalmology. It was conferred for the last 12 years on ophthalmologists who apart from professional skills are also keen on using their skills for the betterment of the society and is a good human being as well. Dr Kelkar started this award in order to appreciate these qualities in other ophthalmologists and also pay homage to Dr. Wagh. This award is annually given in NIO conference under aegis of Poona Ophthalmological Society. He also received Dr. F. P. Antia Oration on 5th December 2010 which is awarded by the Mumbai branch of the Indian Medical Association for his immense contribution in the field of Ophthalmology. Dr F P Antia was born in Mumbai on August 10.1916,He obtained his B.Sc. degree in 1938, MBLS in 1941, MD in 1944 (Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai), MRCP (London) in 1946, and MS (Illinois, USA) in 1949. He was awarded the FRCP (London) in 1969 Armed with all these he returned to India to set upp the first Gastroenterology department in the country in B Y L Nair charitable hospital. The Gastroenterology Department of By L Nair Hospital has instituted an ORATION AWARD in the name of Dr. F.P. Antia, through the Indian Medical Association which is given to a prominent medical specialist with laudable contributions in that particular field.
The Ocular Trauma Society of India aims to promote and stimulate general advancement, education, prevention, management and research activities related to ocular trauma. Air Marshal Dr. M.S. Boparai is the patron (founder Member) of Ocular Trauma Society of India. He has held highest post in army & is instrumental in sensitizing army doctors to join Ocular Trauma Society of India. 10th Biennial conference of SAARC academy of ophthalmology and 38th Annual National Conference of the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB) is held on 05-08 March, 2011 at BCPS, Dhaka. This is the largest event for the ophthalmologists of SAARC countries to exchange views, share knowledge, gather information and skill about rapidly progressive procedures and technologies in this arena. This is also an event of greater social bondage, fellow feeling and strengthening partnership among the eye care professionals of this region. Nutty was bestowed with SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology Retina Oration award. His talk is on Bionic Eye – Where we stand.
